CHROMASCAPE 173 & 174

After a night of rain, the morning sky still held onto its clouds, casting the bay waters in a muted gray. As the sun began to crest the horizon, light filtered through the cloud layers, creating a warm glow that contrasted beautifully with the cool tones of the bay.

I chose to share this moment as a diptych because the two individual Chromascapes, when paired together, tell a fuller story of the scene. The left panel, Chromascape 173, moves from Angel Island and the East Bay into the brilliant sunrise and the beginning of the Bay Bridge. The right panel, Chromascape 174, continues the journey across the Bay Bridge and into San Francisco.

Together, Chromascapes 173 and 174 trace the full expanse of the sunrise as morning light unfolds across the bay, creating a more complete expression of the place than either Chromascape could achieve alone. ~ Marc
