CHROMASCAPE 175 & 176

Photographed from the same location as the other three diptychs in this collection, this diptych, Chromascapes 175 and 176, reflects an entirely different morning. The sun had just reached the horizon but remained hidden behind the marine layer. The result was a warm glow that filtered through the morning sky in soft, luminous layers.

As with the other diptychs of San Francisco Bay, these two Chromascapes tell a fuller story of the place. The left panel, Chromascape 175, leads us from the East Bay into the soft glow of the sunrise. The right panel, Chromascape 176, explores the beautiful sunrise as it continues the journey across the Bay Bridge, now in stark silhouette just above the horizon line, into San Francisco.

I love how the light and color settle onto the water, quietly reflecting the warmth of the sky. Together, Chromascapes 175 and 176 trace the full expanse of the sunrise as morning light breathes life into the bay, offering a more complete expression of the place than either Chromascape could achieve alone. ~ Marc
