CHROMASCAPE 238: GO YOUR OWN WAY

CHROMASCAPE 238

GO YOUR OWN WAY

Denver, CO  |  2026

Chromascape 238 is a unique 1/1 piece I created for Space Gallery's 25th Anniversary Show. As part of the invitation, the artists were asked to incorporate silver into their artwork—a challenging request for my process of capturing found light and color and presenting the finished artwork on watercolor paper. Ultimately, I chose a large refinery north of Denver for its massive shiny stainless-steel industrial infrastructure—the source for my silver.

Made just before sunrise, this Chromascape captures bright lights ascending into a perfect Denver sky slowly awakening in the morning's first light. Silvery refinery towers glow like whispers among a multitude of colors and flame, while a couple of lone travelers arc through the scene, going their own way.

I loved the challenge of making a Chromascape in this place I wish we no longer needed and abstracting it into something interesting, hopeful, and uplifting. Chromascape 238 is proof to me that art and beauty can be found and created anywhere. It also reminds me to break from conformity and go my own way. ~ Marc
